Gaim Win32 CVS Builds
About
These builds are automatically compiled daily at 10 PM Central Time by Andy Schmitz['s computer].
There are, of course, no warranties. None. You will not get any support for
any CVS builds. They are simply here in order to give Windows users a glimpse
of the upcoming features.
The builds are compiled using the Windows compilation guide available on the
Gaim website. There have been a few modifications to the guide's instructions
to allow building of Gaim 2.
Downloading
THERE IS NO SUPPORT FOR CVS BUILDS. There is no guarantee that it will not
fry your processor, insult your mother, or cause you to break out in a nasty
rash.
That said, if you want to download the latest CVS build, you can just download
cvs-latest.exe or
cvs-latest-nogtk.exe. I also keep the
latest week's worth of builds so you can download those as well. When you try
to download any build, you will be directed to the Coral Cache version, so
don't be worried about a redirect (this is to save my bandwidth, I'm on a DSL
line).
Support
If you plan to use gaim CVS, PLEASE read this message in its entirety!
Gaim is a fast-moving project with a somewhat regular release schedule.
Due to the rate of gaim development, CVS undergoes frequent bursts of
massive changes, often leaving behind brokenness and partial
functionality while the responsible developers rewrite some portion of
code or seek to add new features.
What this all boils down to is that CVS WILL sometimes be broken.
Because of this, we ask that users who are not interested in
personally tracking down bugs and fixing them (without a lot of
assistance from the developers!) avoid CVS and use releases. Since
releases will be made often, this should not prevent anyone from using
the newest, shiniest features -- but it will prevent users from having
to deal with ugly development bugs that we already know about but
haven't gotten around to fixing.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact the gaim developers
by email at gaim-devel@lists.sourceforge.net, on IRC at
irc.freenode.net in #gaim, or via the sourceforge forums at
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/gaim. Please do as much homework
as you can before contacting us; the more you know about your
question, the faster and more effectively we can help you!
Send patches to gaim-devel@lists.sourceforge.net or post them in the
Sourceforge forums at http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/gaim.
Comments
Comments about the CVS building project can be emailed to me at
andy.schmitz@gmail.com. I regret
that I am not close enough to the Gaim code itself to answer any questions
about CVS builds other than how they are made. Thank you.
